| CONTAR FIRESAFE CORDUROY TACTILES |
| |
| The Tactiles are supplied in boxes of 10
separated by polyethylene film. This film is to be removed before
installation. The Tactiles are to be bonded in place with Contar
Firesafe Primer/Adhesive (which is a filled resin system) as described
below. |
| |
| 1, Prepare the surface of the substrate by
mechanical abrasion to remove all contaminants and leave a clean, dry,
open textured surface. |
| 2. Make shallow saw cuts (not more than 4mm
deep) along edge line where the Tactiles will be installed. |
| 3. Mask outside the edges with masking tape
to prevent unwanted spread of Primer. |
| 4. Mix the two pack Firesafe
Primer/Adhesive in the quantities as supplied, pour onto the substrate
between the tape lines, and spread evenly. The filled Firesafe
Primer/Adhesive will infill small depressions and, by filling in the saw
cuts will form a strong edge. The pack size based on 1 litre of resin
will be sufficient at a nominal 2mm thickness to bond 5 Tactiles in
place. |
| N.B. The Tactiles have two tapered
edges and two straight edges. The straight edges are to be butted along
the length so that the tapered edges do not form trip hazards. The fact
that the front and back edges are tapered will ensure that the Tactiles
cannot be laid the wrong way round. |
| 5. Place the Tactiles onto the
Firesafe Primer/Adhesive, ensuring that there are no air spaces trapped
under the Tactiles, and firm in place with each Tactile butting exactly
to the one next to it. |
| 6. carefully remove the masking tape before
the Firesafe Primer/Adhesive sets hard, ensuring that no Primer/Adhesive
is allowed to drip onto the Tactiles or substrate. |
| 7. The cure time of the Firesafe
Primer/Adhesive will be approximately 15 minutes under normal
circumstances. |
